Formerly our Business Economics and Management student, Jowin Goh is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Nibou Industries, a 19-year-old SME located in Semenyih.
She graduated UNM in 2021 and has since reached several milestones in her career! Less than a year since her commencement with Nibou Industries, Jowin received two humble achievements that we are proud to share with the rest of you.
Jowin was a Top 10 Finalist for the 4th edition SAY ASPIRE Pitch Finale this year. 30 companies were selected to participate in a series of export training in February 2023, and Jowin led her team to pitch their strategy in front of Raja Muda Selangor, CEO of Matrade, EXSIM, and SME bank.
“Top 10 Say Aspire was tough as I didn’t have an initial team and had to handpick my team in the process,” Jowin remarked. “Initially, I started off with my Marketing Associate, and we were able to make it through the preliminary round as she assisted me in curating the pitch. In the semi-finals, I then added a financial analyst which allowed the three of us to analyse information from different perspectives and curate a good report with a strong rationale backed by facts and figures.”
Besides becoming the top 10 finalist for Say Aspire, Jowin also received the ‘World Young Woman Excellent Achievement Award’ at World Women Economic & Business Summit 2023. She was the youngest attendee for this award!
“I was very honoured to receive my first award ‘World Young Woman Excellent Achievement Award’ at the World Women Economic & Business Summit 2023,” said Jowin. “Despite being the youngest attendee, I tried my best to recognise and acknowledge the people out there. I owe this award to my late mother – Sally Goh. She has always been the most inspiring and influential person in my life and shaped who I am today.”
Seeing our alumna achieve such great milestones so early in her career is no doubt an inspiring moment.
When asked regarding her experience at UNM, Jowin stated that she is very grateful for her time at UNM as it helped her during her postgraduate studies.
“The smaller class size allowed for more interaction with my peers and professors. It really did help a lot to get to know everyone in your class, and it made socialising easier. As a business economics & management student, it has shaped my analytical skills and widened my perspective on the world and industries,” said Jowin.
She also added that the active curriculum is also part of her favourite campus life.
“I was able to be part of the netball team, music society, and I was also a student representative for 2 years. I would say it was a fruitful time for me to expand and develop my skills to implement them into my work routine today.”
