Foundation and Undergraduate Scholarships

We are committed to supporting the exceptional academic achievements of outstanding individuals pursuing our foundation and undergraduate programmes. Discover a wide range of scholarships for future and current UNM students. 

 

  • High Achievers' Scholarship (HAS): New students
Description
The High Achiever's Scholarship (HAS) is a merit scholarship awarded at the discretion of the University to deserving and academically excellent students in recognition of their achievements. HAS is applicable for studies at University of Nottingham Malaysia only and made available on an automatic basis to any academically qualified applicants.
Eligibility

Foundation

  • Qualification: please refer to Appendix A
  • Grades obtained in religion, general studies, physical education, and subjects which are not taken into consideration for a programme are generally excluded.

Undergraduate

  • Grades obtained in religion, general studies, physical education, and subjects which are not taken into consideration for a programme are generally excluded.
  • Where a programme requires specific-subject grade equivalent to A level, you will be asked to achieve a particular grade at a similar level. Grade A- or B-* will not be considered when grade A or *B is required as part of the criteria.

Benefits
A scholarship equivalent to 25%, 20% and 15% reduction of the first’s year tuition fee.
To retain the scholarship
The scholarship is granted exclusively for the first year of study only.

Automatic. No application needed.
Dean's Excellence Scholarship (DES)
Description

Dean's Excellence Scholarship (DES) is awarded to top achieving current students, at the point of progression for each academic year, i.e. from:

  • Foundation to Year 1
  • Year 1 to Year 2
  • Year 2 to Year 3
  • Year 3 to Year 4 (applicable for Masters of Engineering and Bachelor of Education only)
Eligibility
To be within the top 2% of the school population, at the point of progression in each academic year, during foundation and undergraduate studies.
Benefits

Reduction of tuition fee by 25% for one academic year.

Students who have been awarded scholarships from UNM or receiving sponsorships from external sponsoring bodies will not be eligible for the reduction.
To retain the scholarship
The scholarship is awarded for one academic year only, renewal of scholarship is contingent upon making the Dean's list upon progressing in each subsequent academic year
Application process
Automatic. No application needed.
Sibling Scholarship
Description
When a student registers for any programme at the University, their second and subsequent sibling is entitled to this scholarship. It is only applicable in their first year of studying at UNM and cannot be carried forward to the following academic years. 
Eligibility
Awarded to the second and subsequent siblings of a registered UNM student. The siblings need not be studying at the University at the same time.  
Benefits
10% reduction for the first year's tuition fees.
To retain the scholarship
The scholarship is granted exclusively for one academic year only
Application process
Automatic. Evidence of sibling relationship (birth certificate) is required. 
Sports Scholarship
Description
This scholarship is designed to support and reward talented individuals who have demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication in various sports disciplines. Past recipients include badminton, rugby, water polo and football players to name a few. 
Eligibility
Athletes who have competed in any sport at a state or national level. 
Benefits
50% tuition fee reduction throughout the undergraduate programme.
To retain the scholarship
  • To achieve an average marks of 55% each academic year.
  • Be the Sports Ambassador for the University where an annual report of participation will have to be submitted to the scholarship committee. 
Application process

Apply for your chosen undergraduate course at UNM, then fill in  the application form and submit it to the Sponsorship Unit. 

Arts Scholarship
Description
This scholarship is designed to support and reward talented individuals who have demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication in performing arts. Past recipients include singers, dancers, pianists and theatre performers to name a few. 
Eligibility
Students who have played or performed at a state or national level. 
Benefits
50% tuition fee reduction throughout the undergraduate programme.
To retain the scholarship
  • To achieve an average marks of 55% each academic year.
  • Be an Arts Ambassador for the University where an annual report of participation will have to be submitted to the scholarship committee. 
Application process
Apply for your chosen undergraduate course at UNM, then fill in  the application form and submit it to the Sponsorship Unit. 
Provost's Excellence Scholarship
Description
This scholarship is catered to academically gifted students who are in financial need. New Malaysian and International students pursuing undergraduate courses in UNM are eligible to apply. 
Eligibility

This scholarship is designed for exceptional and deserving undergraduate students.

  • Must hold an offer letter from UNM.
  • Students who are facing financial hardship and need assistance to continue their higher education.
  • Active in sports and extracurricular activities.
  • Eligible for new students and UNM foundations students progressing to our undergraduate programmes. 
Benefits
100% full scholarship for their entire course.
To retain the scholarship
To achieve at least an average mark of 60% in each academic year.
Application process

Students must apply for an undergraduate course at UNM before applying for the scholarship. Complete the application form and provide all the required documents before submitting it to sponsorship@nottingham.edu.my.

In order to apply for this scholarship, International students must first accept the admission offer letter, submit their visa application, and pay the acceptance fee.

 

UNM - MCKL Scholarship
Description
A scholarship offered to exceptional Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) students pursuing any UNM undergraduate programme to be completed in Malaysia.
Eligibility
    • An MCKL student of Malaysian nationality
    • Obtain a minimum of 3As at A-levels, excluding general studies 
    • Holding an unconditional offer letter from the University of Nottingham Malaysia 
    • Not holding any other scholarship from the University of Nottingham Malaysia and/or sponsorships from external sponsors
    • Active in sports and extra-curricular activities 
    • Students experiencing financial difficulties are given priority
    • Maintain a second upper-class average mark in each academic year

100% full scholarship for tuition fees
To retain the scholarship
Maintain at least an average marks of 60% in each academic year
