The School of Mathematical Sciences was previously known as the Department of Applied Mathematics in the Faculty of Engineering, primarily focusing on servicing engineering mathematics to various engineering disciplines at its inception. 

Today, we have expanded beyond engineering, delving into diverse mathematical backgrounds, including pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, and probability. Our wide range of expertise enables us to empower students with mathematical and statistical skills, essential for today’s data-driven workplace across various industries. 

The School currently offers BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and Data Science. This programmes is designed to prepare students with multidisciplinary capabilities that are in demand in today’s workforce. The School also offers Postgraduate Research Programmes (PGR), promoting our research expertise in mathematics and statistics.
