Our 2008 MBA graduate, Chin Keat Chyuan, is now the President and Managing Director of KPJ Heathcare since September 2023!
He recently shared one of his milestones at KPJ, where they have pioneered a clinical waste segregation initiative, a first in the country, in collaboration with Cenviro Sdn Bhd, with the support of the Department of Environment.
As the largest network of hospitals in the country, KPJ is fully committed to addressing the global challenge of clinical waste in the healthcare industry.

I am thrilled to share another major milestone for KPJ Healthcare Bhd!
We have pioneered a clinical waste segregation initiative, a first in the country, in collaboration with Cenviro Sdn Bhd, with the support of the Department of Environment.
A signing ceremony was held between KPJ and Cenviro this morning. While I represented KPJ, Director and Group Managing Director Dr. Johari Jalil represented Cenviro. We were honoured to have Dr. Norhazni Binti Mat Sari, Deputy Director General of Department of Environment (DOE) at the ceremony, which marks a significant step toward a healthier and more sustainable future for KPJ and Malaysia.
As the largest network of hospitals in the country, KPJ is fully committed to addressing the global challenge of clinical waste in the healthcare industry.
Our pilot project, launched on August 1, 2023, involved nine hospitals in the Central region, showcasing promising results with a 40% reduction in total clinical waste. Where appropriate, the waste was also reprocessed and repurposed.
With the success of the pilot, we are excited to extend this initiative to all our hospitals. We surely have demonstrated that when we come together, we can achieve remarkable things!
