Alumni and Donor Relations Office (ADRO) organised a webinar titled Alumni Entrepreneurs Discussion on 8 May 2020 at 8.30pm through Microsoft Teams. This is the first webinar organised by ADRO during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The one-hour webinar session was designed as a platform for our alumni entrepreneurs to discuss and share about their businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
There were four alumni entrepreneurs namely Amelia Hong (MBA, 2014), Chin Ren Yi (Mechanical Engineering, 2010), TC Gwi (Management Psychology, 2013) and Vivien Chong (Pharmacy, 2011). All of them own Small Medium Enterprise (SMEs) and are facing a challenging phase in their businesses during this unprecedented time. This session was moderated by our very own Associate Professor Avvari V. Mohan from the University of Nottingham Malaysia.
The evening started with a welcome address by Josephine Dionisappu, UNM PR and Communications Manager, followed by the house rules and introduction by the moderator, Dr Mohan.
The session gave our panelists the opportunity to share their businesses experience during the COVID-19 pandemic, how their businesses were affected, what was their first response, and their business planning moving forward. Besides that, they also shared some of their strategies to keep their businesses afloat and reaching out to their customers by changing a few methods, even releasing new campaigns.
Feedback received from the participants was positive and many believed that the panelists took this challenging time positively and still had time to reach out to front liners and communities for volunteer activities.
