UNMC Researcher and academic Dr Ho Weang Kee wins the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Fellowship, which was announced at the award ceremony on 24 October. Dr Ho was awarded an RM30,000 grant for her research.

Jessica Neoh Jie Qi, final year Chemical Engineering from UNMC, won the Maybank GO. Ahead. Challenge (MGAC) 2017 in the Global Champion team. After three selection stages, 60 Global Finalists representing more than 10 countries advanced from the very initial pool of 40,000 applicants and competed in the Global Finals.

The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) final year international relations student, Michaelle Phoenix Yeo won two separate and prestigious awards in September this year; First, she won an all-expenses paid trip to the UK from the British High Commission in Malaysia. Around the same time, she was conferred with the University of Nottingham's Jan Atkin's Prize.

Professor Malachi Edwin Vethamani, Malaysian poet and academic at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC), launched his second collection of poems entitled Life Happens on 19 August in Kuala Lumpur and on 29 August in Kota Kinabalu. His edited volume of Malaysian poems titled Malachin Testament was launched in December last year.
