Welcome
Gender equality is defined as everyone should receive an equal treatment and not being discriminated against based on their gender. The University of Nottingham (UoN), as well as the University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) have been putting great efforts to work towards gender equality and work-life balance among staff members and students at all levels.
We hope to support gender equality as well as diversity by influencing the policies, practices and culture of the University.
GEN at UNM
UNM WinSET group was officially launched by the UNM Provost & CEO, Professor Christine Ennew on 3 July 2013 to promote gender equality in Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine and Mathematics (STEMM) subjects at the first place. With a broader focus extended to all (STEMM and non-STEMM) disciplines, it is now called Gender Equality in Nottingham (GEN) starting in February 2017.
Athena SWAN
GEN at UNM is working very closely with GEN at UK and China Campuses. We are also benchmarking our efforts with international standard by being the Institutional Member of Athena SWAN Charter, UK with the initiative to promote better policies and to encourage women to advance their careers especially in traditionally male-dominated areas of science, engineering and technology.
