University of Nottingham Malaysia PhD student Lee Shi Ting, from the School of Pharmacy, won the 1st place in Merck Young Scientist Award (MYSA) on 28 August 2018.In an annual award ceremony, Shi Ting was among 10 finalists who competed for the top three grand prizes.

University of Nottingham Malaysia appoints Noorulhadi Mohamed as Director of Financial and Business Services effective 1 January 2019. He is no new comer to the University having been instrumental in setting up the University's first finance and payroll system in 2001. He joins the University after working for 20 years in various subsidiaries within Boustead Holdings Berhad.

Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering PhD student Yap Jing Ying won the best presenter award at The Monash Science Symposium that was held from 21 to 23 November 2018 at Monash University Malaysia. The symposium served as a platform for emerging ideas in the areas of applied microbiology, cell and molecular biology, chemistry and drug discovery, environmental and agricultural sciences, genomics and bioinformatics, and food science and technology.

Academics from University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering and Centre of Sustainable Palm Oil Research (CESPOR) received the Biotechnology Award under the highly commended category at the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Global Awards 2018 for their work on a new bioreactor for biogas production from Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME).

University of Nottingham wins cricket match

The University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) cricket team emerged victorious in the finals of the inaugural T-20 Tri-Series, which was held on 25 November 2018. Organised by UNM, Multimedia University and Inti University were the two other participating teams in the tri-series. The tournament spanned across two days (17 and 18 November) before the finals on 25 November.

The University of Nottingham Malaysia hosted its inaugural TEDx event held at the University of Nottingham Malaysia on Saturday, 20th October. This student-led event attracted about 100 students. It was the brainchild of a group of students who wanted to give new ideas a platform to be heard and provide a fresh perspective on existing ideas.

University of Nottingham academic organises international conservation conference

The global not-for-profit Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) will be organising the 29th International Congress for Conservation Biology (ICCB) in Kuala Lumpur from 21 to 25 July 2019. This will be the first time that Malaysia is hosting this global conference, and only the second time that it has been held in Asia since its conception in 1987.
