Nanotechnology & Advanced Materials

Overview

We are on the threshold of a truly transformative era. Nanoengineering of advanced functional materials, microfluidics and miniaturization technology, polymer and composite processing, fabrication of novel bio-scaffold and brushite materials, development of highly efficient nano-ion storage materials, utilization of ultrasonic cavitation technology for pharmaceutical nanoemulsion generation and advanced nanomaterials synthesis using soft-chemistry templating technique are some of the areas focused for various technological applications.

Group Mission

The Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials group at the UNMC is established with the purpose to support and foster interdisciplinary research within the area of nanotechnology and advanced materials. The group aims to provide expertise, state-of-the-art instruments and infrastructure for academic, industrial, government agencies and international researchers that will help to generate new scientific insights, create innovative nanostructured materials with intriguing functionality and contribute significantly to the advancement of environmental, pharmaceutical as well as energy related research and development programs. The group is also devoted to cultivate collaborative efforts for both non-proprietary and proprietary research among the members with renowned research institutes worldwide. Members have a broad spectrum of advanced and cutting-edge nano related research themes, particularly on the materials design and discovery at nanoscale, energy storage development and optimization as well as the advancement of nanostructured devices fabrication and manipulation. Most of the research projects are financially supported by the funding agencies and dedicated industrial partners, either locally or internationally.
