Coronavirus symptoms

Common signs of coronavirus infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.

Generally, coronavirus can cause more severe symptoms in people with weakened immune systems, older people, and those with long-term conditions like diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disease.

Precautions

To minimise the risk of infection or transmission, public health advice is to cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve when you cough or sneeze, dispose of tissues immediately after use and wash your hands frequently. It is also advised to avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unclean hands and avoid close contact with people who are unwell.

What to do if you feel unwell

If you believe you are exhibiting possible symptoms of coronavirus, please remain calm and seek immediate medical attention. If you are worried about your symptoms, you can talk to a doctor from the Ministry of Health Malaysia from 8.30am-5 pm, daily.

Guidance on social distancing for workplace, homes and individuals was published on Thursday 12 March the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
