Dr Ajit Singh joins School of Biosciences

 

A warm welcome to Dr Ajit Singh!

Dr Ajit has recently joined School of Biosciences, as an Associate Professor in field of Crop Physiology, Experimentation and Biostatics. He obtained his  Ph.D. (1999)  from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He served Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria as a Senior Lecture and then Associate Professor from 2000 to 2011. During this period, he  taught Field and Horticultural Crop Production, Crop Physiology and Nutrition, Field Experimentation and Biostatistics at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Authored 32 publications in major scientific Journals, 42 in Conference Proceedings and supervised 31 postgraduate and 16 undergraduate students

Dr Ajit research interest includes utilization of the natural resources and manipulation of the traditional cropping practices to increase food production. Particularly, incorporation of legumes and legume residues into cereal based cropping systems and assessment of nitrogen fixation.  Other areas include physical manipulation of plant processes to increase crop production and seed biology.

Dr Ajit is happily married to Dr. Mrs. Swati Singh (Gynecologist) and blessed with two children named Ms. Aastha Singh (8 years) and Master Yugank Singh (3 years).
