Renewals

How many times can I renew my books?

You can renew an item up to three times as long as:

  • the item is not reserved by anyone else
  • it is not overdue
  • there is/are no other overdue item(s) outstanding in your library account
  • you haven’t accrued charges of RM20 or more in your library web account

Can I renew a recalled book?

No. Renewal is not advisable as it may incur extra fines.

Why can't I do an online renewal of my loan?

Online renewals will not be accepted if:

  • the item is overdue and carries a fine
  • the item has exceeded number of renewals allowed (three times)
  • the item has been recalled
  • there is/are other overdue item(s) in your library account
  • you have accrued charges of RM20 or more in your library user account

How can I renew my books?

You can renew your library books by either using the self-service machine or renewing them online through your library web account.

How do I renew my loans online?

Login to your library web account via NUsearch, click on the number (of items you have on loan) at My Loans. You can choose to Renew all or Renew selected items.

If a renewal has been unsuccessful, there will be a message on screen explaining why. Common reasons for non-renewal are: You have overdue items on your record or Item has holds. Patron is not the first in hold queue.

If you are unable to renew any of your loans, please ask staff at the Customer Services Counter or email libraryservices@nottingham.edu.my.

Can I renew a short loan book online?

No, you can’t. A short loan item must be returned at the Customer Services Counter by the stipulated day and time. Once it is returned, and if there is no booking on the item, it can then be re-issued.
