The UN Refugee Agency Malaysia (UNHCR) Description: The UNHCR Malaysia offers comprehensive internship opportunities for students studying or working in, or intending to work in the field of refugee protection and assistance. Based in a large and dynamic field office, interns gain valuable experience in both practical and theoretical aspects of refugee protection, advocacy, international law, field operations, and community work. Required qualifications: The applicant must have completed a first degree (Bachelors or equivalent) and may be in the process of pursuing further study in a relevant field. Experience with refugee protection work is ideal, however it is not required. Applicants must speak and write fluently in English. Knowledge of additional languages is an advantage. Duration of internship: The duration of internship with UNHCR Malaysia is a minimum of three months for applicants studying in non-Malaysian universities or colleges, and two-months for applicants studying in Malaysia. Compensation and living arrangements: Interns with the UNHCR Malaysia are not compensated in any way financially or materially. Living in Kuala Lumpur offers interns a variety of affordable choices. The intern is responsible for finding living arrangements; however this can be facilitated through the Intern Coordinator and other interns before arrival. If the candidate is accepted, information on living in Kuala Lumpur are available at request. When to apply: UNHCR Malaysia accepts applications throughout the year, and internships can commence any time during the year. How to apply: Please fill out this form and send it to UNHCR with a statement of intent as well as an updated CV.
