Internship: ASTRO (Malaysia)

ASTRO Internship Programme 

Description: 
Astro Structured Internship Programme is a structured and robust programme for undergraduate Malaysian and International students who are currently pursuing their first degree / diploma in institutions of higher learning in Malaysia. This programme has a structured framework for students to experience hands-on job training, whilst being immersed in classroom-style training programmes which will enhance their skills. Students will gain experience and knowledge related to their field of study, which will increase their employability rate upon completion of their studies.

Astro Structured Internship Programme is open to all eligible students (particularly those in their final year, final semester) both from public and private institutions of higher learning.

There are four (4) intakes per year; March, June, September and December. 

Requirements:

  • Malaysian and International students enrolled in Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma programme with institutions of higher learning in Malaysia (priority will be given to Malaysian students pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree) 
  • Open to first year to final year students, priority will be given to final year students
  • Minimum CGPA of 3.0 and above, or equivalent
  • Minimum 2.5 months (10 weeks) duration for internship placement, exclusions are made based on student’s circumstances
  • In line with the Structured Internship Programme by TalentCorp

Application process: 

  • Only online applications through Astro’s Careers Page will be accepted 
  • Students who meet the requirements will be prompted to sit for the online assessment and it has to be completed within one week 
  • Students with a minimum score of Average will be shortlisted and notified via phone/email and will be interviewed by the respective hiring managers 
  • After the interview, successful candidates will need to provide supporting documents directly to hiring managers before the commencement of Astro Structured Internship Programme

Programme Framework:

Week 1        : Induction/Buddy programme (1-day); On-job internship 
Week 2 to 4 : On-job internship
Week 5        : Training (1-day); On-job internship
Week 6 to 8 : CSR (1-day) - optional; On-job internship
Week 9        : Training (1-day); On-job internship
Week 10      : Evaluation and exit assessment 

On-Job Internship:  

  • First-hand experience - Interns will have the opportunity to learn from the experts in the media and broadcasting industry
  • Team work - Interns will have the opportunity to participate and contribute in project management in the respective department 
  • Administrative & Logistics - Interns are expected to provide basic support and assistance in day-to-day running of activities and duties
  • End of programme presentation - Interns are expected to present on a topic related to what they have learnt and experienced
