Steve Janssen
A double round of congratulations are in order for Professor Steve Janssen on his professorship, as well as his recent appointment as the Head of School of Psychology in the University of Nottingham Malaysia. He will be taking over the role at the end of August from Dr David Keeble, who has held the torch for more than 5 years. Dr Keeble offers his congratulations to Professor Janssen on his richly deserved successes and is confident that Professor Janssen will take good care of the school.
On his appointment as the Head of School, Professor Janssen writes:
First of all, I would like to thank Dr David for all his hard work in the past five-and-a-half years. I believe that he became the Head of School the day after I was hired in December 2014. Under his guidance, the School has grown from 130 to 220 students. Importantly, the people who have been hired while Dr David has been Head of School have been outstanding. These new hires have complemented the excellent staff that was already present. A large factor in my decision to accept this challenge has been the opportunity to work with this talented group of researchers. While Dr David cannot take full credit for hiring me, he has been instrumental in getting this team together.
Becoming Head of School feels daunting and I am sure that I will make many mistakes along the way, but I hope that I can count on your support. Given the ongoing circumstances, it will be another difficult year. Although there is a plan for teaching in the first semester, it is still unclear how several aspects of this plan will be implemented. I believe that if we help each other, we can make it work.
We wish Professor Janssen all the best in his new role, and we look forward to the School of Psychology's future endeavours and successes!
