Two internships in Behavioural Neuroscience at Cerca Insights are available for second year Malaysian undergraduates in the School of Psychology at UNMC. The duration of the internships is 8 weeks, and a stipend of RM250 per week will be available for the successful applicants. The internships will take place at the laboratories of Cerca Insights in Penang, Malaysia. Cerca Insights is a Contract Research Organisation (CRO) meeting the growing needs of pharma and biotech companies for better ways of assessing their discovery stage psychiatric compounds. They model the efficacy of discovery compounds to predict human efficacy, ensuring the compounds taken forward to preclinical testing are the ones most likely to be effective once they are in clinical trials.
Successful applicants will obtain valuable experience in:
• Preclinical drug discovery in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Modern techniques in behavioural neuroscience & pharmacology.
• Animal models of cognition, psychosis, depression & anxiety.

The internships will commence at a mutually agreed date after the end of the summer examination period. If there is not enough interest from students in Psychology, then the application will be opened up to students in other Schools at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.
