Last month, Dr Jason Pandya-Wood, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) at the University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM), hosted the launch of his book, The Kindness Fix: How and Why We Must Build a More Compassionate Society at the Future Students Centre, Petaling Jaya. The event welcomed 50 attendees, including students, colleagues, family, and friends, who gathered to celebrate the launch and engage in meaningful discussions on the power of kindness. Lit Books, a local independent bookstore, also supported the event and book sales.

The launch created a warm and engaging atmosphere, with attendees exchanging insights over nasi lemak and tea. Drawing from The Kindness Fix, Dr Jason highlighted that kindness is not just an act of goodwill but a necessity. He emphasised that compassion must be central to public life, as existing systems are already failing those most in need. He further stressed that embedding kindness into system design leads to more effective, just, and widely accepted solutions for society.

Beyond introducing his book, Dr Jason’s initiative aimed to create a space for reflection, empowerment, and action. The event marked the start of a growing community committed to integrating kindness into everyday life, transforming both personal and professional experiences.
