It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Professor William Case, a distinguished scholar and respected educator.
Bill joined the University of Nottingham Malaysia in February 2017 as a Professor in the School of Politics and International Relations. He served as Head of School from 2017 to 2023 and was due to retire in February 2025. Prior to his time at UNM, he held academic positions at City University of Hong Kong, Griffith University, the University of New South Wales, and Australian National University.
A distinguished scholar and passionate educator, Bill was highly regarded by his students and colleagues alike. Bill was a champion of Southeast Asian politics, a field to which he made significant contributions through his teaching, research, and numerous publications.
Bill's legacy will continue to inspire both current and future generations of students, colleagues, and scholars. He leaves behind a lasting impact on the University and the wider academic community, and his presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
