In an era where data drives decision-making across industries, the University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) and SAS Malaysia have forged a unique collaboration, culminating in the first graduating cohort from the Nottingham University Business School (NUBS) Malaysia to receive a joint academic specialisation in Quantitative Methods and Predictive Analytics.

This landmark achievement, rooted in nearly 16 years of partnership, introduces specialised programmes for BSc (Hons) Finance, Accounting and Management and BSc (Hons) Business Economics and Finance students. Aligning with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation’s (MDEC) mission to enhance digital-based learning, this initiative aims to bridge the digital skills gap and produce competitive graduates ready to thrive in the digital economy.

By integrating SAS’s advanced analytics tools into the curriculum, the collaboration significantly boosts the employability of graduates, providing them with practical, hands-on experience and a competitive edge in the job market. This milestone highlights UNM's commitment to academic excellence and its role in preparing students for the evolving demands of the digital economy.

Dr Seow Hsin-Vonn, Professor at Nottingham University Business School (NUBS) Malaysia shared, “This partnership enhances our curriculum, adding a layer of depth and relevance that resonates with the demands of the modern job market. By offering a unique specialisation in partnership with a globally recognised analytics leader like SAS, we ensure that UNM remains at the forefront of educational innovation with access to advanced tools and resources provided by SAS.”

“Our graduates from these specialised programmes gain a significant advantage in the job market, where skills in quantitative methods and predictive analytics are highly sought after. The practical, hands-on experience they receive through this partnership not only enhances their employability but also prepares them to meet the challenges of a data-driven economy. Additionally, the collaboration opens doors to valuable networking opportunities, connecting students with industry professionals and potential employers”, Dr Seow added.

At its core, the UNM-SAS partnership is about more than just equipping students with technical skills; it’s about nurturing future innovators who will drive growth and development in the digital economy. By providing students with the tools and opportunities to excel, this collaboration supports the creation of a new generation of leaders who are ready to make meaningful contributions to their fields.
