Strengthening International Collaboration: Northeastern University and University of Nottingham Malaysia Sign MoU

In a significant stride towards enhancing global academic collaboration, Northeastern University (NEU) in Shenyang, China and University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and the People's Republic of China, paving the way for enriched educational experiences, fostering innovative research, and promoting cultural and academic exchange. This MoU highlights the enduring ties between the two nations and marks a significant step towards enhancing the educational experiences and opportunities for students and faculty at both institutions. 

Northeastern University (NEU) is one of the prestigious public universities located in Shenyang, China. The delegation from NEU was led by Vice President Professor Wang Xingwei and Secretary Di Kui of CPC Committee and School of Computer Science and Engineering. Representing UNM were Vice Provost (Teaching and Learning) Professor Dr. Hazel Melanie Ramos and Mr. Jagdish Singh, Director of Student Recruitment and Marketing

The MoU outlines several key areas where NEU and UNM will work together: 

  • Teaching and Learning: One of the primary areas of collaboration under the MoU is the enhancement of teaching and learning experiences. By leveraging the strengths of both institutions, NEU and UNM plan to develop innovative educational programmes and share best practices. This initiative aims to provide students with a comprehensive and enriched learning experience, preparing them for the challenges of a globalised world. 

  • Student Recruitment: The partnership will also focus on student recruitment, aiming to attract a diverse and talented pool of students to both institutions. Through joint efforts in marketing and outreach, NEU and UNM seek to broaden their international appeal and provide students with unique opportunities to study in a multicultural environment. This collaboration is expected to enhance the global footprint of both universities and contribute to their growth and diversity. 

  • Co-operation on International Seminars, Conferences, and Workshops: Recognising the importance of academic discourse and knowledge exchange, the MoU outlines plan for co-operation on international seminars, conferences, and workshops. These events will serve as platforms for scholars, researchers, and students to share insights, discuss emerging trends, and collaborate on cutting-edge research. By facilitating such interactions, both universities aim to foster a vibrant academic community and drive forward the frontiers of knowledge in various fields. 

  • Other Academic Exchanges: The MoU also leaves room for other academic exchanges that both Universities may agree upon. This flexible approach ensures that NEU and UNM can explore and implement a wide range of collaborative initiatives. By exchanging views, suggestions, and solutions, the institutions will work towards mutual satisfaction and success.
