On 4th October 2024, the University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM), in partnership with Practera, presented awards to 76 distinguished students in recognition of their outstanding performance and successful completion of the Malaysia Industry Experience Project, conducted between June and August 2024 cohorts.
The ceremony, held at UNM’s Student Association Building, recognised both undergraduate and postgraduate students who demonstrated exceptional dedication and perseverance in completing the two-week programme. In addition to celebrating their hard work, the event provided a valuable platform for students to network with their peers, fostering connections and further engagement within the university community, while receiving their well-deserved certificates of completion.
The ceremony was attended by several distinguished members of the UNM Management Board, including Professor Hazel Melanie Ramos, Vice-Provost for Teaching and Learning, Zainal Zainun, Manager of Teaching and Learning, and Alicia Ch’ng, Head of Career Advisory Service. These key leaders expressed their collective pride in the students' unwavering commitment to their personal and professional growth, emphasising how the skills developed through the programme will play a crucial role in their future career paths. Their presence underscored the university’s ongoing commitment to nurturing student potential and supporting their journey towards academic and industry success.
“I am beyond proud of our passionate students who have showcased enthusiasm and discipline in completing this programme, and who are standing here with us today,” Professor Hazel stated. “Together with Practera, we sincerely hope that you have acquired valuable skills and knowledge in your respective fields and that you utilise them in the years to come.”
The Malaysia Industry Experience Project is a collaborative initiative established by Teaching and Learning (T&L) and the Careers Advisory Service (CAS), designed to provide UNM students with practical work experience and in-depth insights into industry operations. In collaboration with Practera, the programme offers students the unique opportunity to engage in real-world industry projects across the Australia-Pacific region, requiring a minimum commitment of 25 hours over the course of two weeks. During this period, students take on the role of ‘student consultants,’ working closely with their teams through virtual platforms to successfully deliver these projects. This experience enhances their understanding of industry challenges and fosters essential collaboration and problem-solving skills, further enriching their academic and professional development.
Practera is a leading educational technology company dedicated to providing innovative learning and development programmes that enable university students to engage with employers and acquire essential real-world skills. By focusing on experiential learning, it aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge gained in academic settings and the practical expertise required in professional environments. The company is committed to expanding its range of high-quality, accessible programmes, designed to foster the application of academic concepts in real-world contexts. Through its collaborative approach, Practera not only enhances students' employability but also supports universities and employers in shaping the workforce of the future.
