UNM’s School of Computer Science hosted a momentous Farewell Night gala at the prestigious Club360, EcoHill. Nearly 100 attendees gathered to celebrate the achievements and journeys of the Year 3 students, bidding farewell to their successful three-year tenure at the school.
Head of School, Dr Chen ZhiYuan in her heartfelt address, highlighted the students' readiness to embrace new challenges. “I am sure you will definitely appreciate that you have been equipped with the necessary knowledge, experience, and skills that you have gained from here and I am confident that you will continue to excel and make positive impact to the whole society around you,” she said in her congratulatory speech.
In a similar vein, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Professor Law Chung Lim encouraged the graduating students to leverage their education to improve lives and solve real-world problems, underscoring the importance of data and AI in today's landscape. He said, “You will enter a new chapter so therefore there will be a lot of things you can do and achieve in your life, I just want to say that remember the mission and goal of the university, there are two keywords: (1) improving lives and (2) solving problems. With the knowledge and skill that you have acquired during this 3 years study you will be able to make a lot of difference to the world.”
During the event, attendees indulged in delectable cuisine and captured cherished memories at the photo booth with peers and mentors. The evening also included a lively voting session for the best dressed and most engaging personalities.
This remarkable event was made possible by the dedication of the Director of Marketing and Students Experience, Dr. Tissa Chandesa, together with a dedicated committee led by the School of Computer Science Society President, Mr. Mirza Hizriyan Nubli Hidayat.
Congratulations to the Class of 2024 as they venture into a new and exciting chapter in their lives, carrying with them the values and experiences gained during their time at the University of Nottingham Malaysia.
