Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the United Kingdom’s longest serving monarch, died peacefully on Thursday afternoon, local time, at Balmoral Castle.
The Provost and CEO of the University of Nottingham Malaysia, Professor Sarah Metcalfe, has conveyed her profound sadness on behalf of the university on the death of Her Majesty The Queen.
Professor Sarah Metcalfe said: “All of us at the Malaysian campus join the Royal Family and the world in mourning the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen was a global symbol for peace and grace, steering the monarchy, UK and Commonwealth through seventy years of extraordinary change. Her dedication and service was an example to us all."
Flags are flown at half-mast across the university’s campus on 9 September.
The last royal visit to the Malaysian campus by the UK monarchy was in November 2017 when King Charles III launched the Commonwealth Youth Summit on campus, as part of his Autumn Tour.
