Nottingham University Business School MBA ranking by The Economist goes up 29 places

The Economist MBA

The Nottingham University Business School’s (NUBS) MBA rankings on The Economist MBA Ranking 2021 has risen 29 spots to place 55 globally and 3rd among UK business schools. NUBS has moved ahead other reputable schools in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia to secure its position.

NUBS’ ranking surpassed other business schools in the UK in the ‘personal development and educational experience’ ranking. It was also rated first in the UK for salary increase. NUBS’ MBA students also gave the school MBA team high scores and rated them at 15th place globally for faculty quality.

The world’s leading business schools are ranked by The Economist based on two surveys. The first one is through the composition and quality of MBA students, faculty and programme while the second one is via the alumni and current participants’ evaluation of their experience while doing the MBA.

The Economist’s MBA ranking stands out among other influential global MBA rankings because it places emphasis on student satisfaction. It aims to measure the way business schools meet the demands that students have of an MBA programme, so MBA students and alumni are asked to rate their classmates, curriculum, faculty, facilities, careers service and the potential to network.

Professor Duncan Angwin, Dean of Nottingham University Business School, said: “At a time when the value of leadership is at a premium around the world, the Nottingham MBA has been recognised for delivering outstanding management education and professional development. We are delighted that our mission to support our graduates to enact sustainable, innovative and responsible management at a time of great uncertainty has been recognised. We can be certain our graduates are making key contributions to their organisations and communities, globally and nationally, at a time when high levels of competence and capability have rarely been in such great demand.”

Dr Theresa Simpkin, Head of International MBA Programmes, commented:  “Globally the performance of leaders and their managerial capability is under scrutiny like never before. The quality of management education therefore has to reflect our stakeholder’s expectations that our graduates are not only skilled in the art and science of good leadership, but they carry out their duties with due regard to emerging responsibilities associated with good organisational stewardship and ethical behaviours. We are proud to be associated with a programme that has been recognised for its capacity to develop not only highly competent managers but forward thinking, responsible leaders.”

At Nottingham University Business School Malaysia, students on the MBA programme have the opportunity of a global study experience, with the option to take modules delivered at NUBS UK or at the University’s overseas partner institution in Singapore, PSB Academy, where the Nottingham MBA has been offered since 1998. MBA students also have the opportunity to participate in study tours to destinations in key emerging markets in the region.

Director of MBA Programmes at NUBS Malaysia, Dr Anita Chakrabarty said: “We are very proud of this recognition of the learning experience that underpins our MBA programmes. This stellar ranking is also an acknowledgment of the potential of our graduates to make an impact in fostering responsible and sustainable leadership, placing them in high demand particularly during a time of great uncertainty and change.”

“This recognition strengthens the position of the Nottingham MBA as a top global programme, and we look forward to continuing to deliver a world-class contemporary and responsible business and management education in this region,” said Director of MBA Programmes (Singapore), Dr Kenny Wong Meng Seng.

Dean of Nottingham University Business School Malaysia, Dr Lau Chee Kwong, said: “We are delighted by this resounding recognition of the quality of our MBA programmes and the confidence placed in us. This is a testament to the efforts of all colleagues at the School.”
