Professor Asgar Ali from School of Bioscience at the University of Nottingham Malaysia was recently invited by the Bihar Agricultural University in India to be a guest speaker on a webinar. The webinar, which will be held via Zoom on 20 July 2020, will discuss the Recent Trends in Processing Technologies for Food Quality and Safety.
The objective of the webinar is to impart knowledge on recent trends in food processing and technologies, broaden the understanding on food safety and nutritional security, and facilitate the interaction with experts to discuss possible solutions in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Some of the thematic areas that will be discussed during the webinar include the challenges and opportunities of the food industry during the pandemic, cold plasma processing for food quality and safety, the role of pulsed electric field processing technology in food preservation, innovative post-harvest technologies to improve shelf life of fresh produce, and nanotechnology and its application for food processing.
Alongside Professor Asgar, a number of prominent speakers have also been invited to be part of the webinar including Dr Sanu Jacob, Food and Safety Standards, Authority of India; Dr Vasundha Bansai, Punjab university; Dr N.N. Misra, Dalhousie University; and Dr Khalid Gul, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
