A team of Business School students from the University of Nottingham Malaysia emerged as champions of the P&G CEO Challenge 2020 Malaysia, which was held in 2 December 2019. The Nottingham team was one of eight teams that were shortlisted for the national finals based on scores achieved in an online case study that attracted entries from student teams across universities nationwide.
At the national finals, the Top Eight teams spent six to eight hours a day over two days analysing and solving a business strategy case study, vying for the opportunity to compete with teams from the Asia-Pacific region in the Regional Finals to be held in Singapore in March 2020. Top teams from around the world will then meet at the Global Finals in Mexico City.
Team Nottingham consisted of third-year Business Economics and Finance students Tan Sze Khan and Dominic Yeong Yew Win, and third-year Finance Accounting and Management student Anson Lee Kar Lok.
Team member Dominic Yeong reflects on their experience at the national finals: ‘We had a tough time brainstorming within the time constraints, but the team eventually came to a consensus on the most effective and efficient strategies.”
“My team and I would like to extend our gratitude to the Business School and the University of Nottingham Malaysia for providing us the opportunity to broaden our perspectives,” he added.
“We are extremely proud of our students’ achievements at the P&G CO Challenge 2020,” says Dean of Nottingham University Business School Malaysia, Dr Lau Chee Kwong.
“We are also grateful that the students had this invaluable opportunity to apply what they have learnt in the classroom to real-life problem solving in a business strategy context. We wish the team all the very best in the Asia-Pacific Regional Finals in Singapore.”
