The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) co-organised a seminar on Horizon 2020, one of the European Union’s biggest Research and Innovation programmes with approximately €80 billion (RM 375,245 billion) over seven years.
The seminar was co-organised with the European Commission, EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Euraxess.
In the opening remarks, UNMC Vice Provost (Research & Knowledge Exchange) Professor Claire O’Malley said: “We are proud to co-host this seminar which serves as a platform for researchers in Malaysia to explore funding and collaboration opportunities tapping into one of the largest networks through the European Commission”.
“As a leading research university both in the UK and in Malaysia, we are proud to facilitate links between EU and ASEAN countries that present significant opportunities for international research and innovation to address some of the world’s greatest challenges,” said Professor O’Malley.
The Horizon 2020 seminar was attended by leading researchers, key funding bodies, business leaders and academia.
Also present at the seminar were: Delegation of the European Union to Malaysia Head of Political Section Marcel Roijen, Switzerland Euresearch Dr Juliane Sauer, Embassy of Germany in Malaysia Head of Cultural Department Carsten Fischer, EURAXESS Links ASEAN Regional Representative Dr Susanne Rentzow-Vasu, British Council Malaysia Director of Education and Society Clare Walker and Malaysia France University Centre Assistant Director Camille Retzignac.

Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme ever with nearly €80 billion of funding available over seven years (2014 to 2020). It promises more breakthroughs, discoveries and world-firsts by taking great ideas from the lab to the market.
This seminar addresses researchers in Malaysia who are interested in exploring opportunities to participate in Horizon 2020 calls. Representatives of key European research and funding agencies will also introduce available programmes for research mobility experiences in Europe and collaboration with European partners.
