The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) has announced the appointment of Professor Fon Sim Ong and Professor Andrew Morris, to the positions of Vice Provost (Teaching and Learning) and Dean of Faculty of Science respectively.
Prior to this Professor Ong was the Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, a position she has held for 2 years and Professor Morris was the Head of School for the School of Pharmacy at UNMC.
“It is with great pleasure that I announce 2 new appointments at Management Board level. Both Fon Sim and Andrew are highly experienced academics, very effective leaders and are tremendously capable; they will both play key roles in supporting the further development of UNMC,” said Professor Christine Ennew, CEO and Provost of UNMC.
Professor Ong said “Enhancing student experience and well-being through the promotion of innovative teaching and learning will be the focus taking UNMC forward. Our aim is not only to impart knowledge to students in their chosen discipline, we also provide students with tremendous opportunities in their personal development, in particular, their leadership quality and soft skills. For me, it is a great honour and a privilege to take over one of the top positions in the University. I am indeed excited at the opportunity given to me to be part of the team that takes UNMC to the next phase of growth."
Professor Morris said “The Faculty of Science is responsible for a hugely diverse range of degree programmes and high quality research activity. It is also notable that such a large number of external awards and accreditations have been bestowed on the Faculty - the Athena Swan award recognising a commitment to advancing women's careers in science being particularly significant. I am enormously excited about the further potential and it will be a privilege to lead such an exceptional academic community.”
