Nottingham University Business School Malaysia has secured the maximum nine exemptions from examination papers at the ‘Fundamentals’ level of the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Qualification.
Students of the BA/BSc (Hons) Finance, Accounting and Management degree at Nottingham University Business School (NUBS) Malaysia who have graduated or will graduate between 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2020, will be entitled to exemptions from the ‘Knowledge’ papers of the ACCA Fundamentals level, namely, Accountant in Business, Management Accounting and Financial Accounting. Such graduates will also be entitled to exemptions from the remaining six ACCA Fundamentals level ‘Skills’ papers provided they have taken and passed certain specified modules. The ‘Skills’ papers are Corporate and Business Law, Performance Management, Taxation, Financial Reporting, Audit and Assurance and Financial Management. Further details can be obtained at the ACCA exemptions enquiry database.
“The Business School at The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus is proud to be associated with ACCA, one of the world’s leading bodies for professional accountants,” Professor Lee Chew Ging, Dean of Nottingham University Business School Malaysia said.
“We are delighted to have obtained the maximum exemptions from ACCA, which underscores the quality and relevance of the teaching and learning activities within the School,” said Professor Lee.
ACCA Accelerate programme
In addition to the nine exemptions, NUBS Malaysia also now participates in the ACCA Accelerate programme. Under ACCA Accelerate, students of the School’s BA/BSc (Hons) Finance, Accounting and Management degree programme will be able to register with ACCA during the second or third year of their undergraduate studies, before they complete their degree.
“The ACCA Accelerate programme will allow our Finance, Accounting and Management students to take non-accounting ACCA Professional level papers, such as ‘Business Analysis’ and ‘Governance, Risk and Ethics’ modules, before they graduate,” Professor Lee said.
“Such students will be able to claim the credits for any Professional level papers successfully taken under the ACCA Accelerate programme after they have completed, or claimed exemptions from, all nine papers in the Fundamentals level.”
Other benefits of the ACCA Accelerate programme include a free annual subscription to the ACCA for up to two years inclusive of the year in which the students graduate, priority access to events and conferences specific to Accelerate students, free subscription to ACCA’s Student Accountant magazine, and free access to ACCA’s online resources, including students’ own ACCA accounts on the myACCA portal.
“This is an exciting development in our portfolio of teaching and learning offerings, expanding the opportunities for our students to further hone their skills in areas of great relevance to the industry.
We look forward to working together more closely with ACCA in supporting our students’ future careers in accounting, business and finance,” Professor Lee said.
