Following the announcement of Malaysian Budget 2016 on Friday, The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) today announces a tuition fee freeze for the 2016/17 academic year. Tuition fees will remain at the current 2015 rate. The University has made this announcement early to allow parents to plan for the financial challenges they will face in 2016 and beyond.
“Friday’s budget re-emphasises the Government’s commitment to the tertiary education sector and the importance of delivering to the targets outlined in the Higher Education Blueprint. At UNMC we are aware of the escalating cost pressures on families who send their children to private universities and we would like to do all that we can to keep private education accessible. We will also continue to increase our scholarship budget to allow us to support the brightest and best students,” said Professor Christine Ennew, CEO and Provost of UNMC.
“Education is at the heart of what we do and we would like to do our part to ensure that more students and Malaysians particularly have access to quality higher education as a foothold into their future,” Professor Ennew said.
UNMC’s stand to maintain the tuition fees will help see through the plans to the Malaysian government who have allocated RM135 million to provide further assistance to students from low-income families in primary and secondary schools.
