Nottingham University Business School (NUBS) Malaysia is establishing 2+2 arrangements with partner universities in collaborations with leading universities in ASEAN.
“In support of the ASEAN Economic Community, NUBS Malaysia is establishing ‘2+2’ arrangements with key universities in ASEAN countries, where students from partner universities will spend two years of their degree programme at NUBS Malaysia,” said Professor Lee Chew Ging, Dean of NUBS Malaysia.
Currently, NUBS Malaysia has established 2+2 arrangements with Prince of Songkla University in Thailand and Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City – International University in Vietnam. In addition to this, the School has a 1+3 arrangement with the Beijing Foreign Studies University in China, where eligible students will spend three years at NUBS Malaysia to complete their degree.
“We also aspire to have a ‘mini ASEAN community’ among our students as a platform to promote better understanding of our neighbouring countries. As a business school we are of the opinion that this is important to develop the human capital needed by the region,” Professor Lee added.
Visit by students from Petra Christian University (PCU)
Recently, NUBS Malaysia hosted a group of students from Petra Christian University Surabaya, Indonesia for a study-tour at The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus in Semenyih. This is the second visit as the first group visited UNMC in 2013.
The students, who are from Petra's Business Accounting programme attended an interactive one-day lecture on ‘Doing Business in Asia’ by Vanitha Ponnusamy, Assistant Professor of Organisational Management, and Dr Eunice Lim Ngat Chin, Senior University Teaching Fellow of International Business.
The delegation, which was led by Josua Tarigan, Head of the International Business Accounting Programme at PCU, also visited Malaysian companies NV Multi Asia Group Nirvana Malaysia and Nets Group Malaysia.
The visit to NV Multi Asia Group Nirvana Malaysia provided students with the opportunity to get a better understanding of innovative practices in marketing and financial investment across Asia by a leading provider of bereavement services in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, the visit to eco-printing company Nets Group Malaysia enabled the students to gain insights into the commitment of the organisation towards environmental sustainability, and its impact on sustainability accounting, which is a crucial business practice in society today.
“As a global business school, we look forward to welcoming more delegations of students from our partner universities, and to share aspects of business practice in this region with them,” Professor Lee concluded.
