Bursaries are available for students who are interested in attending the 4th annual Association of Commonwealth Universities Summer School at The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus from August 17 to 24, 2014.
This year's programme is Global food security; can we feed a growing world? The Summer School provides a forum for high caliber students from Commonwealth countries to discuss topical global issues and we look forward to hosting students from different parts of the world as they join the diverse community at The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.
“At Nottingham we encourage student mobility initiatives, be it our students visiting other campuses or students from other countries who visit us. Students gain valuable exposure from student exchange programmes and Tri Campus Games, it is instrumental in molding them as global citizens and widens their opportunities for global employment opportunities” said Professor Christine Ennew, CEO and Provost of UNMC.
The bursaries are awarded by The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) for students enrolled in any of its member universities. ACU is committed to mixing local and regional students from different fields of study, those who may have never had the opportunity to leave their own regions.
There are a limited number of bursaries and full bursaries include return economy flight ticket to Kuala Lumpur, registration fees, accommodation and meals; and partial bursaries may be used towards registration fees or travel. Bursaries, in either case, cannot be used to cover the cost of visas, vaccinations or transfer costs to and from airports at the point of origin.
Students from varied disciplines such as food security, engineering, urban planning, politics, agriculture, sociology, geology, gender, health science, nutrition and economics are encouraged to apply.
“This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn from international and inter-cultural discussion and team work as they engage in a dynamic and interactive programme looking at a key issue facing us all today.” Dr Christopher Hill, UNMC Director Research Training and Academic Development and ACU Summer School Coordinator.
