Tri-Campus Games 2011

Students from The University of Nottingham Malaysia China (UNMC) will be participating in the Third Annual Tri-Campus Games at Nottingham’s Ningbo Campus from June 5 to June 10.

More than 180 athletes from the three campuses will compete against each other and will also combine into “global select” teams for friendly matches with other Chinese universities.

The games kick off with a procession through the Ningbo campus by all three teams on Sunday 5 June and end with ceremony on 10 June when the hotly-contested Tri-Campus Games trophy will be awarded to the winning campus. The theme for the Tri-Campus Games is 'friendship through sport.'

The Tri-Campus Games schedule includes: basketball, tennis, seven-a-side football, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, squash and frisbee.  There will also be fun evening events such as chopstick tennis and tug-of-war.

“At Nottingham we believe in offering a holistic student experience which allows our students to work and play hard,” said Professor Ian Pashby, CEO and Provost of The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.

“Events such as these provide a great opportunity for students to network with their peers from our other campuses in a competitive environment. As we are a truly global university, these games also provide a platform for students to consider the unique option of student mobility programmes at our other campuses.”

Professor Pashby also added, “We invest heavily in student facilities and recently upgraded our sporting facilities here at the Malaysia Campus."

The University of Nottingham, UK also hosts annual Malaysian games and it is the largest sporting event for Malaysian students studying in the UK, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. The maiden event was 1985 and it has since been attended by Malaysian Ministers in Higher Education including, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Datuk Mustapha Mohammad, Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin.
