Malaysia Campus celebrates Charity Carnival success

The Nottingham Brings a Smile Charity Carnival 2011 organising committee celebrated their success of the carnival with their partner, The Malaysia Council for Rehabilitation. Nottingham Brings a Smile raised a total of RM10,000 in aid of various NGOs in Malaysia dedicated to enhancing the lives of the differently-abled.

The carnival was organised and lead by a team of students of the university a host of games and food stalls, performances and a vintage car display to raise funds. Additionally the team also worked together to promote the event and draw hundreds of participants to the campus for a carnival like atmosphere.

“Student participation in events such as this helps them develop various organisational skills especially project management and team building,” said Professor Ian Pashby, CEO & Provost of The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.

“We want to equip our graduates with key qualities that employers require and I am proud to say that success in projects such as this is a testament in itself of the capability, diligence and creativity of our students.”

The carnival was organised by the university students as a CSR programme to create awareness of the challenges faced by the differently-abled and raise funds towards this cause.
