Benjamin Robin Barton seeks to unravel an affair that rarely receives attention through The Doraleh Disputes Infrastructure Politics in The Global South, his new monograph.
Benjamin, an Associate Professor in the School of Politics, History, and International Relations (PHIR) at the University of Nottingham Malaysia is publishing the first detailed account of the legal discord between Djibouti and Dubai, surrounding the ownership of the Doraleh Container Terminal. The book also chronicles China's intervention in the matter, the more significant role the region plays in developing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and its connection to South-South Cooperation (SSC).
Benjamin's work will be recognised and shared with academics alike at the launch. Scholars like these give us a glimpse into the nuances of the world around us when they present their work.
