During the weekends, the participants were enlightened by our local lifestyle after visiting some of Malaysia’s famous tourist attraction such as Batu Caves, where they caught a glimpse of the Hindu devotees performing their acts of penance, self-mortification or thanksgiving while carrying the kavadi, and Central Market, in which the participants adored the work of henna art. On the following weekend, the participants also visited Pachitan Homestay that is located at Port Dickson where they clothed themselves in traditional Malay attire and indulged in mouth-watering local delicacies during their stay with the local families in the village. They enjoyed learning the art of making ketupat alongside with playing traditional musical instruments and batik painting. Local grown fruits such as rambutans and coconuts were also savoured by the participants. Over the two-week English Winter programme with CELFE, the participants were assessed on their listening, discussion and presentation skills for overall understanding of the objective of the programme.
