It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Professor Ganakumaran Subramaniam, Head, School of Education, University of Nottingham Malaysia. Prof Gana has been a true friend of Gateway and has contributed immensely to the progress of our organisation, especially in the area of teacher training and development. On a personal note, Gana was family to me and Gateway. He was my go-to person, in sharing academic related ideas as we both shared similar values. I have always treasured the lengthy conversations I have had with him on various matters and topics that we both have been passionate about. All my colleagues at Gateway will remember his teaching - be it at the Graduate School or the Annual Workshops. As the Founder Chairman of TISSL, I recall the days when we planned the International Conferences for Heads of Schools. Together, we also initiated the International Conference for Teachers (IFT), International Conference for Students (IFS) and International Conference for Parents (IFP). He was also the key person in organising training programmes in Malaysia for Sri Lankan Principals of both Government and Private Schools. Gana was not just a hard-working Educator but one of the finest human beings that I have had the good fortune to meet. His demise is not only a great loss to Nottingham but to Gateway as well. His absence will be felt not only in Malaysia but in Sri Lanka too. Gana, you have touched the lives of thousands of teachers and through them generations of children. Thank you for being a brother to Dinali and me. The Gateway family will strive to live your dream of seeing a better world through quality education. With all our love, Harsha Alles on behalf of the Gateway FamilyChairman of the Gateway Group of Organisations
