The school's MOOC on "The Politics of Economics and the Economics of Politicians" has been nominated for the Online Educational Resource Award by the British Universities Film and Video Council. Two current first year students, Athirah Alffian and Veenitha Balachandran took the course share their thoughts: “The Politics of Economics and the Economics of Politicians (Nottingham Advantage Award module) complements our Economics course well as it covers numerous things we've learned in class, such as free trade and growth through technological progress i.e. the Solow growth model, so it was fun to apply the knowledge outside the class. The module also included history and several influential public figures who impacted the world. I found this a good opportunity to learn general knowledge useful for economics and non-economics student.” (Athirah Alffian) “Being a first-year economics student, I have always searched for an interesting avenue for my economic exploration that helps to illustrate ideas in this field in an engaging manner. The Politics of Economics and the Economics of Politicians of the FutureLearn platform proves to be what I need to pique my interest in Economics. The inseparable relationship between politics and economics, elucidated with examples of world leaders and economists who affect their local and world economy’s, are highlighted in this course. However, national interest, inculcated in political decisions also help shape the world. A very intriguing feature is the comments section after every chapter, that showcases different economic perspectives from different participants. The discussions were engaging and required critical thinking from every participant. Overall, this module was a comprehensive professional experience and I learnt a lot from it."
