A study from the Department for Education and Institute for Fiscal Studies has found that studying economics at university significantly increases the average earnings of male and female graduates. When compared to those who opted out of higher education, male economics graduates showed the highest percentage return on their earnings at aged 29 with the School of Economics at the University of Nottingham ranking as the 4th best institution for boosting economics graduate earnings. Amongst females, those with an economics degree earned on average 65% more than their non-graduate peers, second only to graduates in medicine.
