Dr. Saumik Paul Visiting Researcher at ZEW

Saumik-ZEW

Dr. Saumik Paul, Assistant Professor at the Nottingham School of Economics, Malaysia Campus (UNMC), is visiting researcher at ZEW's (Centre for European Economic Research) Research Department "Labour Markets, Human Resources and Social Policy" from July 1 to September 14, 2013. He received his PhD in Economics from Claremont University, US. Prior to joining UNMC, he taught at Osaka University, Japan, and worked at the World Bank. His research interests are development economics, but he also focuses on labour, education, and migration.

Saumik works with ZEW researchers on a concept to cooperate in the research field of migration on the German labour market. He is currently works on a study that aims to understand the intertwined relationship between emigration and deunionization in the context of wage inequality in East Germany in the period from 1992 and 2001. 

During his stay, Saumik gave two research seminars, the first one at ZEW on 12th August, 2013 and at Gottingen University, Economic Research Seminar on 27th August, 2013. He is scheduled to give another seminar on 11th September at the joint research seminar series organized by ZEW and University of Mannheim.
