Professor Thomas Yang

Professor Thomas Yang is the Dean of the College of Engineering at National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT), Taiwan. He has been actively involved in various research fields, especially on the ceramic/polymer packaging, fabrication of functional biomaterials and semiconductor materials, with more than 90 research articles in high-level international SCI journals. His research activities include barrier films for OLED devices, fabrication of dye sensitized solar cell, semiconductor/photocatalysts for clean energy, in-situ characterization for catalysis, and nano-scale technology. He has conducted a number of industry-academic cooperation research projects, including the bioceramic dental implant system, green energy in SOFC and solar cell projects etc., in collaboration with the government sectors, Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Taiwan Research Institute (TRI), Metal Research and Development Institute (MIRDC), and some private companies. 

Professor Yang was the recipients of both the Excellence in Research Award and Outstanding Researcher Award of the College of Engineering in NTUT in 2010 and 2005. He was also the Outstanding Graduate Student from the American Institute of Chemists Foundation, USA in 1995. He was awarded with the Graduate Teaching Awards from University of Missouri, USA in 1992 and 1993. Up to date, Professor Yang has supervised more than 55 postgraduate students and serves as the editorial board of Advanced Process Technology.

Dr. Joon Ching Juan is an Associate Professor of Catalysis at Nanotechnology and Catalysis Research Centre (NANOCAT), University of Malaysia (UM), Malaysia and also appointed as a Senior Research Fellow (Adjunct) position at Monash University, Sunway Campus. He has been actively involved in various research activities especially in the area of catalysis. Most of his research activities are focused on understanding the nano-structure of catalyst to be applied in environmental and energy. Up to date, he has managed to publish more than 100 publications and his h-index is 18. With his expertise and experience, he became an author for 3 books and received competitive national and international grants such as The World Academy of Science Grant (TWAS, UNESCO), E-science fund (MOSTI), Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS, MOE), etc. As strong believer of research with innovation, he has filed five patents to be used in industries. 

Dr. Juan is also the recipient of several awards including National Young Scientist Award (2016), Best reviewer award from Elsevier (2015), Pro Vice Chancellor Award in Research and Teaching (2010, 2011 and 2012), Best Thesis Award (2008), and just few to mention. Besides being engaged in teaching and research, he also serves as council member of Malaysia Institute of Chemistry (MIC), Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), Chartered Chemist (RSC, UK), Chartered Scientist (RSC, UK), and Associate Editor of Malaysian Journal of Chemistry, Editor of Malaysian Journal of Catalysis, Chairman of Environment and Green Chemistry Section at Malaysia Institute of Chemistry (IKM). He has been a consultant and advisor to many governments’ bodies and industries.
