On October 17, 2024, a group of 33 students and two lecturers from the University of Nottingham Malaysia had the privilege of attending the second day of the Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) 2024 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). The convention, held from October 16 to 19, 2024, is a key platform for showcasing Malaysia’s growing enthusiasm for advancements in AI, semiconductor technology, and SME digitalisation.
The SDEC 2024 event brought together over 214 booths, including 23 international exhibitors, offering a dynamic exhibition space that highlighted cutting-edge technologies and innovations across various sectors. Students explored a range of industries, such as e-commerce, fintech, AI, robotics, telecommunications, and urban management, all contributing to Malaysia’s aspirations in the digital economy.
One of the highlights of the field trip was the Gen AI Innovations Conference, where the students were able to engage with the latest developments in artificial intelligence. This event offered an incredible opportunity to learn from industry leaders and explore practical applications of AI across multiple sectors. This enriching experience not only expanded the students' understanding of emerging technologies but also offered a glimpse into the future of digital innovation in Malaysia.
