The competition, organised by the CIMB Group, was aimed at providing a holistic and structured learning programme in trading and investment for tertiary students. The team, comprising Business School undergraduate students Wong Wy Hoong, Alice Liew Si-Qi, Tan Yeong Han and Neoh Jia En, beat 16 teams from nine colleges and universities, and walked away with RM10,000 in a CIMB savings account and a return trip to Jakarta, Indonesia, which would include a day visit to CIMB's offices there.
The competition took place between July 15 and August 13, 2010, whereby participating teams were given a RM500,000 'fund' as initial capital and instructed to choose the best investment strategy to maximise the value of the fund.
The CIMB Group is a banking group in Malaysia with a significant presence in the Southeast Asian region.
