Professor Andre Krischke, Professor of Supply Chain Management from the Munich University of Applied Science, delivered a talk on supply chain risk management to students in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, including students from the Business School's MBA Operations Management module.
Professor Krischke's presentation evaluated the application of simulation methods for supply chain risk management in a network context, and recommended that existing tools such as Supply Chain Mapping, Bottleneck Identification and Critical Path Analysis need to be taken a step further in order to foresee the behaviour of dynamic and complex systems. In particular, he pointed out that simulation appears to be a promising extension of the current toolset, as it would allow the foreseeing of a possible range of responses from the supply chain system.
This talk was also part of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences' Research Seminar Series.
