Pfizer Malaysia HR Director, Mr Shazmi Ali, delivered a talk to MBA students on the topic of managing change in the area of performance management, with perspectives from the pharmaceutical industry. The talk, held on December 2, 2015, was arranged in conjunction with the MBA Managing People module.

Shazmi Ali is a seasoned and broad-experienced Human Resources leader in Malaysia. With almost 2 decades of both commercial and HR experience, Shazmi was instrumental in many organizations that he has served. He has a wide range of experience in various industries – Manufacturing, Healthcare, IT, Oil & Gas, Aviation and Pharmaceuticals.
Shazmi is described as a true Commercial HR leader that strongly embodies the 'People above Systems' philosophy. He has been added to the Stanford Who’s Who distinguished ranks of professional individuals as a result of his extraordinary work in the field of human resources. Shazmi is also the recipient of the 'Excellence in HR Leadership Award' by the Golden Globe Tiger Awards.
Shazmi Ali is currently the Human Resources Director of the world’s leading 150-year old bio-pharmaceutical company, Pfizer. Prior to Pfizer, he was the regional HR Leader in Asia for CAE, a global leader in providing comprehensive training solutions based on world-leading simulation technology and integrated training services for the civil aviation and defense sectors with over 8,000 staff members and 100 sites in 30 countries.
Shazmi possesses a rich academic career with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management from Universiti Utara Malaysia and a Master’s Degree of Business Administration from Victoria University. He is a member of several groups and societies reflecting his professional interests, such as Human Resources Malaysia and HR Manager Talent Solutions. He is also an Exco Member of the International Movement for a Just World (JUST).
In his free time, apart from attending to his newborn twins, he also coaches various university teams in debating and ENACTUS Business Presentations. Shazmi is a regular prominent speaker at local & regional HR conferences.
