Dr Mohan Avvari, NUBS Malaysia's Associate Professor of Strategic Management, was a Judge in the inaugural Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards 2015, organised by CSRWorks International Singapore and supported by the British High Commission in Singapore, which winners were announced on 28 February 2016, at an event held at the British High Commisioner to Singapore's residence.
The judging panel for the Awards consisted of academicians, experts on corporate social responsibility (CSR), and sustainability professionals. The winners were selected from a pool of 180 participating companies from Hong Kong, China, Japan, India, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, the Middle East, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines.
The winner of the 2015 Awards was Hong Kong real estate developer Hang Lung Properties, which was awarded 'Asia's Sustainability Report of the Year (Judges Choice)' and 'Asia's Best Sustainability Report'. Birla Carbon, a unit of Indian conglomerate Aditya Birla Group, received awards in categories including 'Best Online Corporate Social Responsibility Communication', 'Best Materiality Reporting' and 'Most Transparent Report'.

Dr Mohan Avvari is Associate Professor of Strategic Management and Deputy Dean (Business Engagement and External Relations) at Nottingham University Business School (NUBS) Malaysia. His research interests are in the areas of Strategy and Innovation, with sustainability-oriented Strategies (CSR). He is particularly interested in collaborations or linkages firms develop with other organisations for Innovation and Sustainable Development/CSR. He has served as a Council Member of the Consumer Forum (CFM) for the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Industry, as a recourse person in WTA-UNESCO workshops and recently as Innovation Auditor for MIGHT, Malaysia.
Research related to sustainability in business at NUBS Malaysia is addressed from a variety of angles including CSR practices and their impacts, good governance, business models and innovation, collaboration between corporate and civil society organisations, new forms of organisation (structures and cultures) for collaboration, CSR and markrting, sustainable consumption, business ethics and issues in financing and similar practices. NUBS is a signatory to the United Nations Principles of Responsible Management Education (UN-PRME), and many of the academic staff at NUBS Malaysia are affiliated with the International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility (ICCSR) at The University of Nottingham.
