Dr Rasyad Parinduri, Assistant Professor of Business Economics with NUBS Malaysia, was invited by the Australian National University’s (ANU) Indonesia Project to speak at an event called the BIES Economic Dialog and Economic Forums, in three Indonesian universities—Universitas Padjadjaran in Bandung, Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, and Universitas Sam Ratulangi in Manado. The event is organised annually by ANU to promote the BIES to Indonesian researchers and policymakers. Dr Parinduri was requested to speak on a paper he recently published in ANU’s publication, the Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies (BIES). His paper, entitled “Family Hardship and the Growth of Micro and Small Firms in Indonesia”, published earlier in 2014, examines how resilient micro- and small firms are to the family hardship experienced by the owners’ households, about whether the growth of the firms is severely constrained by limited access to resources like internal finance.
