Professor Chew Ging Lee, Dean of NUBS Malaysia, attended the 2014 Annual Meeting 2014 of the Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS) at the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Beppu, Japan, where leaders of business schools in the region convened to discuss the future directions of the Association, under the theme of “Asian Values Under Globalisation”. Speakers at the meeting included Mr Takehiko Nakao, President and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Asian Development Bank, Professor Howard Thomas, Dean of the Lee Kong Chian School of Business at the Singapore Management University, Mr Hiroshi Komiyama, Chairman of the Institute of Mitsubishi Research Institute Inc and President Emeritus at the University of Tokyo, Mr Katsutoshi Saito, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company Limited, and Mr Osamu Nagayama, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Chugai Pharmaceutical Co Ltd.
The annual meeting, which was held from November 19-21, 2014, marks the 10th anniversary of the Association, which aims to provide leadership and representation to advance the quality of business and management education in the Asia-Pacific Region. NUBS Malaysia has been a member of the AAPBS since 2012. Other academic institutions that are members of AAPBS include the Australian National University, University of Melbourne, University of Hong Kong, Indian Institute of Management, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and the National University of Singapore.
