CSR, Universal Value and Harmony in Asia

 
The Nottingham University Business School in Malaysia organized a Corporate Social Responsibility professional workshop entitled “CSR, Universal Value and Harmony in Asia”.  The focus of this workshop was on the difference of individual and business values in Asia; Islam, Confucius and Hindu approach towards people and business; and harmony of Asian society through CSR lens. It was supported by Integrating Global Society, Nottingham University.  Participants for this workshop were from a variety of stakeholder groups namely, the government, businesses, academia, religious groups and also from NGOs.

Speakers from Korea, China, India and Malaysia who play a pivotal role for pushing the CSR agenda in Asia presented their views at this workshop.  The participants were introduced to the new vocabularies of CSR in the Asian context and learnt about various business cases of CSR in Asia.  They were also able to share values and ideas on CSR in Asia.

NUBS was successful in improving the levels of dialogue and were able to facilitate the endeavour of generating harmony through the CSR lens in the Asian context through this workshop.
