This session will explore automated matchmaking rules in B2B sharing economy platforms that solicit labour from the crowd to fulfill the needs of enterprise clients, in order to generate revenue from repeated orders. The speaker will share the results of a study that will demonstrate the instrumental role of matchmaking rules, and reveal that striking a balance between different rules depend on trade-offs between operational efficiency and financial profits.

Dr Zhao Cai is an Associate Professor in Information Systems at University of Nottingham Ningbo China. His research interests focus on the intersection among digital supply chain management, platform competition, and sharing economy. Findings from his research have appeared in leading journals such as MIS Quarterly (MISQ), International Journal of Operations and Production Management (IJOPM), and Information & Management (I&M), among others. Dr. Cai was an Outstanding Associate Editor in Internet Research (IR) in 2021 as well as an Outstanding Associate Editor in 40th International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS). Dr. Cai serves as the Managing Editor of Industrial Management & Data Systems (IMDS) and an Associate Editor for IR. Additionally, he has served as a Track Chair for Wuhan International Conference on E-Business (WHICEB), an Associate Editor for the ICIS, the European Conference of Information Systems (ECIS), and the Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS).
